Designing a bedroom is not just about placing a bed and a cupboard inside a room. A well-designed bedroom reflects personality, lifestyle, comfort, and future planning. This project was a special one for us because it was designed for my cousin Ibrahim Zainjua, who lives in Bahria Town Phase 8, Block E. Ibrahim wanted to renovate his bedroom and transform it into a modern, comfortable, and stylish personal space that also supports his gaming lifestyle. As the architect and designer behind Naqsha Wala, I was given the responsibility to design a room that is both visually appealing and highly functional. Ibrahim specifically requested a bedroom that includes a 65-inch display TV, a dedicated gaming setup, a modern bed area, and a dressing space with cupboards planned for the future when he gets married. The goal was to create a room that serves his present lifestyle while also preparing the space for future needs. This bedroom design project in Bahria Town Phase 8 Rawalpindi focuses on modern interior design principles including lighting design, texture contrast, color harmony, and functional layout planning. Every element of the room was carefully designed to create a luxurious yet comfortable environment. Concept and Design Approach The main concept behind this bedroom design was modern luxury with warm and moody lighting. We wanted the room to feel cozy during nighttime while still maintaining a stylish architectural character. To achieve this, we used dark tones combined with warm lighting and wooden textures. The flooring plays a very important role in defining the character of the room. For this project, we designed a rich herringbone wooden flooring pattern. This flooring style instantly elevates the interior and adds depth and elegance to the space. The dark wooden tone also complements the green textured walls and black design elements used in the room. The walls were designed using textured panels and vertical groove elements. These features help break the monotony of flat walls and introduce a premium architectural feel. The textured wall behind the bed and TV creates a focal point that enhances the overall visual appeal. Bed Wall Design The bed wall was designed as the main focal point of the bedroom. Instead of using a simple plain wall, we created a feature wall with texture and artistic elements. The bed is placed on a soft neutral rug that balances the darker tones used in the rest of the room. To further enhance the bed wall, we added profile LED lighting that runs along the edges of the design panels. This warm lighting highlights the textures and creates a relaxing nighttime atmosphere. The lighting is subtle but powerful enough to define the architectural lines of the wall. A sculptural wall artwork was added above the bed to bring an artistic touch to the space. This element helps break the symmetry of the wall while still maintaining balance within the design. TV Wall Design The TV wall design was one of the most important parts of this project because Ibrahim requested a 65-inch display screen for both entertainment and gaming. The TV was mounted on a feature panel wall designed with textured green surfaces and vertical grooves. Beneath the TV, we designed a floating media console that provides storage while keeping the design clean and minimal. To add depth and drama to the TV wall, profile lighting was integrated around the panel edges. This lighting creates a glowing frame around the TV wall and enhances the viewing experience during nighttime. Floating shelves were added next to the TV area for decorative objects and accessories. These shelves add personality to the space while maintaining the modern design theme. Gaming Setup Since Ibrahim is passionate about gaming, we designed a dedicated gaming and workstation setup within the bedroom. The gaming desk is positioned on the side of the TV wall so that the display can also be used for gaming when needed. The desk was designed as a floating workstation with a sleek surface and integrated lighting. A modern chair complements the workstation area, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The desk area also includes shelves and lighting elements that highlight gaming accessories, collectibles, and books. Ceiling Design The ceiling design was kept modern and minimal while still maintaining elegance. Instead of complex false ceiling patterns, we used a linear panel ceiling with recessed spotlights. For the nighttime render concept, the ceiling was finished in matte black, which helps hide shadows and creates a cinematic lighting environment. The warm recessed lights illuminate the room evenly while keeping the focus on the architectural elements of the walls. This approach also enhances the gaming atmosphere because darker ceilings reduce glare and make screen viewing more comfortable. Lighting Design Lighting plays a critical role in modern interior design. In this bedroom project, we used a combination of lighting techniques: • Warm recessed ceiling lights • Profile LED strip lighting • Task lighting for the desk area • Ambient lighting behind feature panels This layered lighting approach ensures that the room looks beautiful both during the day and at night. Future Dressing Area and Cupboards Another important requirement of the project was planning for future storage and dressing space. Since Ibrahim will eventually need more wardrobe space after marriage, we designed a dedicated wall area that can accommodate large wardrobes and dressing units in the future. The cupboards were planned in a way that they integrate seamlessly with the existing design theme. This ensures that future additions will not disturb the visual harmony of the room. Final Result The final bedroom design successfully combines modern luxury, gaming functionality, and future planning. The combination of textured walls, warm lighting, wooden flooring, and minimal furniture creates a space that feels both elegant and comfortable.
